Buzzcocks
Straight outa Manchester, England, the Buzzcocks, led by Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle, were the ultimate in creating pop songs for punk rockers.
I took these at a gig in 1979 at the Geary Temple, a former synagogue that was now unused except to put on punk shows. It was on Geary near Fillmore, across the street from the Fillmore Auditorium and not far from where Jim Jones’ People’s Temple used to be.
The support for this show were the band that did so much to give birth to the post-punk genre, Gang of Four, whose surviving members remember this gig to this day, and even did a feature on it in the book that came with their box set and which also has some of my photos.
